A pop-over is an opt-in form that appears over the top of your content. These can be a little disruptive to the user but they force them to engage with your mailing list and to take notice of it. Studies show that these can increase subscriptions by an order of magnitude which makes them very useful.
Talk About Your Mailing List
Many people think that they can create a mailing list and then simply leave it in the corner of their site for people to sign up to. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work like that and in most cases no one will find it.
Instead then, make sure you talk about your mailing list from time to time and outline why it’s worth signing up to!
Incentivize
You can encourage sign ups with a strong incentive – like a free eBook or report. When doing this though, make sure you aren’t encouraging sign-ups from people who just like free stuff. Keep the incentive highly relevant to your product and make sure that it helps to promote it further in itself. You can also make the mailing list itself the incentive by creating a newsletter or eZine.
